Every once in a while life gives us the chance to light up someone’s face with a smile. One such opportunity came our way — thanks to an initiative that was conceived and executed by our New York store.
What began as a thought…
While setting up Bombay Shirt Company in New York, Manisha Amin, who heads business operations in the Americas, had resolved to donate one t-shirt to an underprivileged child in Mumbai for every shirt they sold over there. Much to our delight, the store has managed to sell thousands of shirts in the span of a year.
Is today’s reality…
Their idea brought them to Taraben Master Secondary School in Juhu, Mumbai, where our New York store’s partner Ashesh Amin, and our founder, Akshay Narvekar, spent a morning interacting with school children bustling with enthusiasm. T-shirts designed to supplement their Physical Training classes were handed out to over 200 students. One for each team, red, blue, yellow and green, these t-shirts were carefully chosen keeping in mind the students’ needs. With about two sets of school uniforms to swap between six days of school, and having to repeat the same uniform for their physical training class, we deemed it fit to make something that was more functional and useful.
What came of it…
Classrooms resonating with happy vibes and cheery smiles
What’s under way…
After having recently completed our second donation drive, we’re well on our way to reach out to more schools and kids, and keep this mission going strong.
